AXEL has just come to the rescue at 12 months through no fault of his own and will be available for adoption. Based in Devon, we will be prioritising homes in the South West region but will consider out-of-area applications with the right home being the priority for this lovely young dog.

Other: Black & tan long-coat GSD. Vaccinated, wormed & microchipped.

Axel is a super-young shepherd male who will make a great companion in the right home where his training will need to continue as a young dog. He has been well cared for and trained by his previous owners and is responsive to commands. We are looking for an experienced owner to continue his education in his new home.
He is good with people and was very calm and polite when I met him as a stranger, but he can, on occasion, be over-exuberant and excitable; as a young dog, he has lived with another dog, older children and travels well. He is fully housetrained and crate trained.
He is good out and about around other dogs but is walked on lead mostly and has only been let off in a secure field and quiet places and has good recall in these situations. He does pull on a normal lead and collar, so he is currently walked in a figure of eight head collar. So he would benefit from further general training with lead walking and recall around distractions.
We are looking for an experienced adult-only home, or one with older dog-savvy children considered, for Axel and as an only dog or with an older mature dog, ideally a bitch, but this would need careful consideration & introduction.
A sad rehoming and only done after much consideration due to a change in circumstances and felt to be in the best interests of Axel whose needs can no longer be met in the home
You would need to be prepared to travel to the South Devon area for meets with Axel. A home check will be required, and an adoption fee would be payable.
