BEAR is a super- young, blackshort-coated,d, GSD bitch that has just come into our care and will be available for adoption.
Based with us in Devon, we will be prioritising homes in the South West region but will, in exceptional circumstances, consider out-of-area applications, with the right home being the priority for this lovely bitch.
She is 2 years old, a smart, lean, rangy bitch with lots of maturing and growing to do, and currently weighs around 24 kg. She is vaccinated, wormed & microchipped and spayed.
Bear who has lived with another dog is a sweet, friendly dog and will make a great companion for an active owner. She has been well cared for by her previous owners, but she is a young, active girl who needs an owner with experience of the breed to continue her training and meet her needs in terms of exercise and enrichment.
She is good with people and was very calm on meeting myself as a stranger to the house and is friendly and wants affection. She has lived with another dog in previous homes. She is fully housetrained and crate-trained, where she is used to being left for periods. She is not a vocal dog generally but does bark in the car initially and during the journey with anticipation but is calm when she arrives at her destination.
She is good out and about with other dogs but does and pulls on the lead and is currently walked in a halti, so she needs an owner with the training skills and breed experience and to do further general training with lead walking and socialising, etc.
So we are looking for an experienced home potentially with dog-savvy older children, and ideally, an only-dog but a mature, calm, trained dog may be considered, but this would need careful consideration & introduction. Only limited exposure to horses and livestock, so this would need managing appropriately. Not lived with cats.
A sad rehoming due to a recent change in circumstances with the young couple and made with much consideration and heartache in the best interests of Bear, whose needs can no longer be met. She was very much loved and cared for by her owners, so it is not an easy decision,
You would need to be prepared to travel to the South Devon area for meetings with Bear. A home check will be required, and an adoption fee will be payable.
She is available for adoption to the right home through South West GSD Rescue – Forever Homes Wanted.
If you are interested in adopting Bear, please complete an adoption enquiry form on the website and state BEAR.
