this handsome lad went into foster in September, and he’s ready to meet his forever family.
He is a great dog with so much potential in need of a bit of training. His temperament is 110%, and he’s so enthusiastic to please. If I didn’t already have 2 dogs in my small house, he would 100% be a keeper.
This is a very sad rehoming of a much-loved family dog.
The Good:
LOVES people, super friendly Good with children of all ages Thinks he’s a lapdog Crate trained (sleeps in crate overnight with kong) Can be left (he was anxious at first so give him a week or so to settle in) Has previously lived with another dog (Staffy). Careful introductions would be needed if homing with another.The Bad
– Carsick. He travels well, jumps in the car and doesn’t make a fuss but the poor lad vomited around 20 minutes into our journey home.
– Thinks he’s a lapdog. I love a lapdog, but this lapdog is 43kg and doesn’t seem to understand that 
– STRONG on the lead. Needs to go back to basics on lead training. We are managing with a front ring harness. He does NOT like a headcollar – he scratched his nose trying to get it off. I have seen huge improvements in the last week but much more work needed.
– Jupiter has been introduced to dogs. He is very boisterous with them much better with females than males. When he sees a dog on a walk he gets really excited and will whine, wanting to say hello. Keeping the excitement levels down will need work.
– Needs firm boundaries. When we first brought him home he would Barge through doors and have no concept of boundaries. We’ve now got him sitting and waiting as we leave and enter the room. New owner will need to keep up the training in this area.
– He has chased cows that were in a field next to his garden. The original owner reported that he is good with livestock on a walk, and he was usually walked off-lead. I suspect that he was defending his territory, as I was advised that the cows had made their way into the garden a few times prior to the attack.
– Unknown with cats. Lived with a cat as a puppy but not for the last 2 years. Showed no interest in cats on a walk.
